Chairman’s Message

Hello all,

Firstly can I say a big thank you for being elected onto being your chairman for the forthcoming year. I am really looking forward to what the year has in store and to work with a fantastic team of Tracy, Katie, Beth, Andy, Ian and Joanna.  I look forward to working alongside all the clubs in the county and creating a friendly bond and interest with them all!

November saw our Dorset YFC Auction of Promises at Charlton Down Village Hall on Saturday 25th November, we hosted just under 100 guests on their prepaid tables. We had 56 lots available to purchase from the auction lots that had been donated from the clubs across Dorset. Lots varied from A bottle of Famous Grouse, Cakes, days out to Trips away in Shepard huts, Digger work or Bailing. Thank you to everyone who came to the evening and bid on the lots and to everyone who donated lots, without these we wouldn’t have raised the amount we did. The lots themselves made just under £6,000 which we feel is a huge achievement these funds will go towards purchasing a shipping container to store all the YFC items which is clogging the tiny county office.

On Saturday 2nd December we held “A Bit of Drama with Dorset YFC” competition at Thomas Hardye Theatre. It was a greatly attended evening with 2 competition entries in the drama with Beaminster YFC performing “Beaminster YFC does Diddly Squat” and Puddletown YFC performing The Lion King. We had a filler performance from Gillingham and Shaftesbury YFC with Mamma Mia dancing and Marshwood Vale YFC with back to school both great fillers thank you!   There could only be one winner on the evening, well done to Puddletown YFC.  Also had the results for Junior Member of the Year with Lauren from Marshwood Vale going forward to represent Dorset at SWA in March.   The results of the Harvest Supper was also given out with 9 trophies up for grabs! Well done to all clubs who went home with trophies from the evening. We held a raffle on behalf of Tracy for the Dorset County Hospital Cancer Unit thank you to everyone who bought tickets!

Finally I would like to wish you a Very Merry Christmas and Happy New with a break from YFC over the holiday period! We shall see you in the new year! X

Hello all,

As my year as County Chairman has drawn to a close, I’d just like to say that it has been a huge privilege to hold this position over the past year, and to be a part of the County Team over the past 3 years. I have thoroughly enjoyed attending all the County events this year and getting to know so many of our members as a result. We have an array of incredible members, including so many keen juniors – some of which I am sure will take up the role of County Chairman themselves in years to come!

I would also like to say a massive thank you to the rest of the County Team, who have been a fantastic support over this period. To Mike, Dad, Amy and Katie, who I have loved working with over the last year – you have made the best team and pulled together to make things happen! And finally to Tracy, who really does go above and beyond in her role, who has been a huge support and a great friend. We are lucky to have you!

I really would encourage anyone to step forward and to take a role on the County Team – it has been so rewarding and something I will look back on and be proud of.

Wishing the team and our membership the best of luck for the upcoming year – and I look forward to seeing you all at events, in particular at the Rally as I continue into the role of Rally Secretary.
