Thankfully May has been a quiet month for YFC activities, allowing time to enjoy the glorious warm weather. Catching up on the late spring to get seed in the ground and grass in the clamp. As the days get longer and harvest gets closer remember to stay safe if working long hours.
At the start of the month 78 Dorset members travelled north to Blackpool for the annual convention. I believe everyone enjoyed themselves over the long bank holiday weekend. I was very pleased that there were no incidents involving Dorset and that we received praise from our hotel on how well behaved we all were.
Look out for the new 9 club social evenings being held around the county each month. The first one is on Wednesday 13th June hosted by Wareham & Purbeck YFC. A great way to get to know members from the other Dorset clubs.
It is not long until we will be promoting all that young farmers’ has to offer at the local shows. If you have any suggestions of fun and interesting activities or displays we can have in our show tents please let your club secretary know. Shows are a great opportunity for us to show what YFC really means not just the bad press that has recently shadowed the organisation.
Well done to the teams that represented Dorset at the SWA competitions day last Sunday (3rd June), sorry I couldn’t make it up there to support you!
